Glyndwr's Way is a 128 mile (206km) route that runs through some of the finest scenery in Mid Wales. It is named after Owain Glyndwr, the famous Welsh warrior/statesman renowned for his struggle against the English during the early 15th Century, who came close to establishing a united and independent Welsh nation. Glyndwr's Way passes close to the sites of many incidents of the rebellion. The route starts in Knighton where it links with the Offa's Dyke path before heading into the Radnorshire Hills. It winds northwards to Machynlleth (were Glyndwr held his Parliament as 'Prince of Wales') and then back eastwards to Welshpool where it is possible to rejoin the Offa's Dyke path and so make a complete circuit. The route actually passes right through Brandy House Farm about 15 miles from the start making this an ideal place for your first night's stop. |
